I managed to get a rough basic R90 fairing from e-bay and fitted it to the front by some all thread rods it looked Ok but to my eyes the gaps at the bottom for conventional forks and mudguards looked incongruous, so I decided to add a platform that sat on the front top tubes, and extended the fairing down to form a short skirt. Now there are many ways to make a fibreglass moulding, I decided to at least make a female mould and then lay up the final skirt using that and the fairing top. You can spend a lot of time making a perfect female mould but that would take as long and as much material as making the final object and for a one off not to be repeated it’s the quick and dirty route for me. So first I used some polystyrene package blocks which I carved with a hot copper wire loop that I held over a propane flame and then quickly carved what I needed. Then I added plaster of Paris for the final shape, and when all was dry, I used a combination of cling film and silicone rubber smear to make my release film and laid fibreglass tissue and then mat over the mould adding some wood strips for strength over the top.

When cured it pulled off easily. I will have  to pay for my quick and dirty method by smoothing and filling the female mould until it is acceptable, but that's for later.

I was also wondering what headlight would fit the fairly restricted space between the steering column (how easily car terms come to mind!)  and the fairing, Luckily at a local auto jumble on the first stall, I found a triumph trident headlight which looks as if it will fit the bill, I will leave the detail fitting and bracketry until the rebuild.
