Round 4/5 Snetterton June 16/17th 2012

BMW K100 BEARS Racer Snetterton June 2012

I said in my last blog, after a poor meeting at Cadwell, that we were hopeful of better things at Snetterton, and thankfully thats what we got.
From the start of the first BEARS race i found myself at the front and almost immediately battling for the lead with a big orange Laverda Jota, and thats the way it went all weekend.
The BMW was flying and i had obviously put the new clutch together better this time. Down the end of the long back straight it was pulling 9000rpm and bouncing off the rev limiter which must be around 130-140 mph, the handling was excellent and felt very smooth.
Of the five BEARS races we had four 2nd place finishes and one 1st. Our first win on the BMW after only ever finishing 2 races since it was built, well chuffed!
The Vincent was also going well but the gearing was still wrong in the first race and we ended up putting a 54 tooth rear sprocket on after that, thats the biggest we have which is a bit mad for the fastest track we go to. The grid for the upto 48 class which the HRD runs in was very small and got smaller as the weekend went on as bikes blew up/crashed out which made for an unspectacular race but the results read well with one 3rd and three 2nd place finishes.
Roll on the next meeting , which is Lydden in kent on the 28/29th July.
