Bens first bike was a pw50 aged five, this was ridden round and round the common at hawridge, over the road from the family home. Later came a Yamaha ty175 which was ridden around the back field, until it eventually fell apart. Ben has been racing classic bikes since 1989, at fifteen his first race was at Cadwell park on a 250 BSA C15. While waiting for his racing licence to arrive, Ben would practice bump starting the BSA down the drive at home after school. The following season Tim retired from racing and handed the reins of the Vincent Comet over to Ben. After some early incidents, one of which earning him a titanium arm, Ben went on to enjoy much success and win numerous races on the HRD over the years. Ben has built and raced various other bikes including some more modern machines, but most recently he has competed on the 1272cc Egli Vincent alongside the 600cc HRD finishing in the top three of the championships on both bikes for the last three seasons. For 2012 Ben will be riding the Vincent Comet and the new BMW K100 in the British Historic Racing Championships.
